In Memory of John: A Family's Appeal

With deep sadness and broken hearts, we share the loss of Johnathan James Morton, known to many as John, and lovingly called “Shorty” by family in his younger years. John was just 24 years old when he passed away by suicide.

John was a proud U.S. Army veteran, who served his country with honor, courage, and deep conviction. He was also a beloved stepson, son, brother, and friend — a young man who gave freely of himself to others and stood strong even while silently facing his own battles.

John’s love for his family ran deep. He was kind, loyal, and brave. From a young age, “Shorty” was full of energy and heart — always making others laugh, always willing to help. That same spirit followed him into adulthood and through his time in the military.

His loss is heartbreaking, and the pain of his absence is something we’re still struggling to understand. But we choose to remember and honor John for the life he lived, the love he gave, and the service he rendered to his country.

This fundraiser has been created to help cover funeral and memorial expenses, and to ease the financial burden on his grieving family during this incredibly difficult time.
