In Memory of Jody Rathbone
Donation protected
Anyone on the transplant list knows that there are requirements and concessions that have to be made. MANY! Sometimes they include moving your family within 10 minutes of the transplant hospital, because you are on call 24 hours a day. For some (the Rathbones) that means as a husband, leaving your real estate business (with your Real estate family) and taking your children away from the school they know and love, friends, and extended family and familiarity to live in an apartment in Minnesota approx. 12 hours away from their norm.
But the Rathbones did it in faith, because it brought with it the potential for a new, healthier and longer life for Jody once she received her new liver. The boys and Scott were her everything, and she was theirs.
Fast forward several difficult, but memory filled months---
The day that so may had prayed for was here, Friday June 8th, 2018. A viable liver from a precious donor was in route and an eager recipient (Wife, mom, daughter, aunt, cousin, Sister in Christ, JODY ) and Scott were at Mayo waiting for the Dr's approval. Scott immediately let us all know that this was "NOT a Drill!" It was a GO, and after multiple "almosts" the miracle all believed would happen was in process. Prayers poured in for Jody, Scott and their precious boys. We knew the surgery would be long, and several Hours passed when an unthinkable call came in and all earthly expectations were shattered by the fact that God needed Jody home that same evening. Disbelief, shock and many tears followed.
This has been a devastating blow to a faith filled , gentle giant, (her husband and biggest fan, Scott) and their precious sons.
(Scott quoted)
"She was a million miles out of my league but somehow she loved me anyway. I didn't deserve her, but God blessed me with her anyway. And she loved our boys, so, so much.
This isn't how her life, our lives, were supposed to go. She was supposed to get a new liver and be done with this horrible disease, done with the pain. We were supposed to go back home with her feeling great and with so much more life to live. Better life. There was supposed to be so much more time, more vacations, more sunsets, more holidays, more hugs, more kisses and more laughter. We were supposed to grow old together, see our kids grow up together and see our grandchildren grow up. I am in shock. I keep waiting for someone to wake me from this horrible nightmare. I cant understand why this happened. All I can say is that I love you so much Jody Rathbone, always and forever. I would give anything for 1 more day with you."
Many unforeseen expenses are now facing her husband and sons. Please donate if it is in your heart to help offset funeral, counseling, and medical expenses and set up savings accounts for her sons in her honor.
