In Memory of Jill Kessler Emery

On January 25, 2018, after battling multiple cancers and withstanding aggressive treatments, Jill Kessler Emery, passed away at the age of 50.

A beloved art teacher, friend, daughter, sister, wife and mother of two very special young girls, and so much more, Jill touched the lives of so many and leaves behind a very special legacy.

While there’s no doubt she’s an eternal angel watching over her daughters from above, her husband Scott, a proud Army Ranger and disabled vet, and their bright and beautiful girls, Megan, 11, and Sydney, 7, have a great deal to face in her absence — medical bills, funeral expenses, and the cost of running a family and a household. This fund has been established to help. Please give as generously as you can.

Jill’s Legacy

A big believer in the value and power of education, Jill earned her bachelor’s at Emory University and her master’s at American University, and then went to work for Discovery Communications in Maryland. It was after her move to Florida that Jill discovered her passion for teaching, which she matched with her artistic talents. As an elementary school art teacher, she inspired hundreds of students over the years, most of them economically challenged. As she inspired each child she taught to find and be proud of their inner artist, she helped her students know their abilities and believe in themselves

Jill and Scott married and were raising their two daughters when, at the age of 46, Jill received the devastating news she had breast cancer. She withstood aggressive treatment and a double mastectomy, and for several years it looked like that difficult chapter was behind them.

At the same time, Jill cared for her father and her mother through their extended illnesses, showing her deep love for them throughout their health struggles.

Then came a diagnosis that there was cancer in her bones and liver, and more aggressive treatment followed. And at the end of 2017 came the news the cancer had spread to her brain.

Through it all, her daughters were the lights of her life. She delighted in every part of their growing up and took them on countless beach outings and joined them in countless art projects. By the way she lived, Jill showed her daughters how to be strong, how to care for others, and how to live their gifts. Jill truly is a teacher to us all.

Please help by donating. Your generosity will honor Jill’s legacy, make her dream for a good life for her family a reality, and support Scott and his mom, Terrie Emery as they move the family forward.
