In Memory of Jessica: Funeral and Repatriation Aid

On the evening of August 4th, our lives were forever changed when our beloved Jessica suffered a tragic and unexpected brain injury at home and later passed at the hospital surrounded by family. As we navigate this unimaginable loss, we are reminded of the fragility of life and the precious moments we were fortunate enough to share with Jessica.

Jessica came to the United States in March, seeking to improve her English and spend quality time with her sister, Jaque. Over the past 5 months, she became an integral part of our family, bringing warmth, laughter, and love into our home. We also had the pleasure of knowing Jessica over the last 7 years through her visits to Jaque, and her vibrant spirit and selflessness left a lasting impression on all of us.

An incredible cook, Jessica delighted us with her culinary skills, often whipping up delicious homemade bread and pasta. Just days before her tragic injury, we gathered together to enjoy a memorable evening of homemade pizza, crafted in a pizza oven she had lovingly purchased for her boyfriend, Gui. Her thoughtfulness and generosity were evident in everything she did, and she approached each task with an infectious enthusiasm that inspired everyone around her.

Jessica had a profound love for dogs, which she expressed through the care and affection she showered upon our two beloved pups, Taffy and Pepper. Every morning, Taffy would eagerly scratch at Jessica’s door, excited to greet her. It’s heartbreaking to see how much they miss her already.

Jessica leaves behind her sister Jaque, her parents Jane and Dimas, her boyfriend Gui, her cherished dogs Luke and Luna, our family, and countless friends who were touched by her kindness. We find solace in the thought that she may now be reunited with her middle sister Jennifer, who tragically passed away five years ago after a long fight with cancer. And we find comfort in knowing that her loss has become a gift of life for others.

Funds raised will assist with funeral arrangements and the cost of bringing Jessica home. Any additional funds raised will be donated to the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation.

Thank you for considering a contribution to honor Jessica’s memory. Your support means the world to us as we navigate this heartbreaking journey.
