In Loving Memory of Jean (Ji Yun) Lu
Donation protected
Hello Family & Friends,
I, Michael Lum, am sad to announce the death of my beloved wife Jean (Ji Yun) Lu. Our dear Jean passed away on February 15, 2022 after a long and difficult battle with Ovarian cancer, and we feel at peace knowing that she can rest now. She is now reunited with her mother in heaven. Thank you for your messages of support during this difficult time for our family. It helped to give us a bump during the last stretch. We are sorry that she didn't get a chance to say goodbye to everyone that she wanted to. We kept putting it off until she had more energy and felt better, but that unfortunately didn't happen. Just know that you all mean a lot to her and she wants everyone to live a happy life.
I would like to send a special thanks to my father-in-law Huan Yu, my mother Mary and Jean. Even though I was frustrated at times, they were always patient with me. Because of Covid, we had to keep our core group small and I'm proud that the 4 of us were able to navigate the medical world, make sure I was able to keep working, give attention to our daughter Rachel and have quality family time all the way to the end. Also a special thanks to the doctors and medical team who tried everything they could.
Many have asked how they can help during this difficult time. We have set up a donation link and we are going to direct to causes that are all close to Jean's heart:
- In Support of Rachel (Towards RESP/Post-Secondary School)
- Toronto Zoo Memorial
- World Wildlife Fund Canada
- Canadian Cancer Society
February 16, 2022 is the 6 year anniversary of when we first said "I love you" to each other. Something that felt so foreign to me before seems so natural now. I love you Jean, you will forever be in my heart. I look forward to being by your side again, hopefully when I'm much older and get a chance to help Rachel to grow up to be a strong, beautiful, intelligent, loving and caring person just like you.
I love you Jean. We love you. Rest in peace.
