I still can’t believe I’m even writing this.
I have so much to say, but can’t figure out words that will do any justice. But I guess I’ll just try.
As most people know by now, we tragically lost Jay in an accident.
Whether you knew him as Jay, James, Jay Kountree, Grandpa, or any other nickname, he treated everyone like family. He built an entire safe space for everyone to just be themselves, and brought us all together for so many cool things. Half of us wouldn’t even know each other or be friends if it wasn’t for him.
He taught so many people to DJ, or how to curate an event. He took everyone under his wing. He stayed true to himself, his craft, and his art- no matter what! If there was nothing else he wanted more, it was to create dope stuff and a place for us all to experience it.
He was the heartbeat of Trenton, and beyond. I couldn’t walk 5 feet with him without running into someone he knew, even if we were out of state. I always called him the mayor.
I am setting up this GoFundMe to help his family with the funeral expenses , and if there is anything beyond, it will go directly to them. Anything you can offer will be greatly appreciated, even if it’s just a share or a kind word about him.
There aren’t enough words to properly give Jay the tribute he deserves. If you knew him, you couldn’t help but love him. He will be so sorely missed.
