In Memory of Jasmine Avila Stene

On August 14th, 2020, we heard that we lost our friend Jasmine Avila Acosta (Stene) to complications due to Covid 19. Jasmine was diagnosed with Covid19 and things escalated very quickly and despite being on a ventilator, she passed away due to a collapsed lung and brain swelling.  All of us who loved Jasmine know that she had overcome so much tragedy in her short life and to be finally taking away by Covid at the young age of 37, seems unfathomable. Jasmine was predeceased by her mother, and her little sister Janelle, both which had their own tragic passing’s, that Jasmine had to endure for many years. Grieving both the loss of her sister, and her mother and the loss of being able to have a significant role in Nixias life, Jasmine did preserver and work and raise her two beautiful children, Christian and Brittany with her husband Robert in Portland.   When Jasmine relocated to the USA from Canada, she left behind her natural community of childhood friends and close friends and started to build her life with her husband Robert who was her first and only love and her two beautiful children Brittany and Christian. She was able to make new friendships in her new country but some challenges with moving to a new country have become evident and these differences still remain. Our understanding is that Jasmine did not have adequate insurance for her last hospital stay and that there is a huge hospital bill that the family has been left with.   We are creating a go-fund me page to not only help Robert with the two children, as he transitions with them during their final years of highschool, but to also create a place for her friends a family to grieve via funeral arrangements, costs towards the bills, that the family needs to sort through. Jasmine was a very good soul, no matter what life dealt her, she was always there for anyone who needed her. Whether she offered you a couch,(or even her room) to sleep on while you passed through Portland, or the jacket off her back if you were cold. Jasmine was a good person with a huge heart and her not being here anymore is going to be felt for a long time by many who loved her.   Her friends are now asking that you help out if you can, if you can send any donation to help her husband with their kids please do what you can. We would greatly appreciate it. Thanks you!
