In Loving Memory of Jakub Dziemaszkiewicz

This page was created by Jakub Dziemaszkiewicz’s close friends and colleagues at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), Scott Smith and Shanique Edmond. We created this fundraiser to honor our friend and colleague, whose life, service, and friendship will never be forgotten. Through this effort, we hope to give back to a man who gave so much to others and to support the two people who meant the world to him: his beloved sons, Krzysztof (a/k/a Kris) and Tommy.

Remembering Jakub

Jakub Dziemaszkiewicz entered eternal rest on Friday, October 16, 2026, at the age of 43. A proud U.S. Army veteran, Jakub resided in Bristol, Connecticut, and leaves behind a legacy of service, compassion, and love that will never be forgotten.

Born in Poland, Jakub immigrated to the United States at a young age. He later answered the call to serve his adopted country by enlisting in the United States Army as an 11B Infantryman. In 2004, he deployed to Afghanistan with the 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, serving with courage, honor, and dedication.

Beyond his military service, Jakub enjoyed motorcycles, hunting, fishing, spending precious time with his sons, and sharing his love of Polish cuisine. These were among the many things that brought him happiness, but one of his greatest passions in his later years was helping fellow veterans.

Following his military service, Jakub continued his commitment to serving others through his work with Disabled American Veterans and, more recently, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs within the Veterans Benefits Administration. As a Human Resources Liaison for the VA, he was a valued colleague, a dedicated professional, and a trusted source of guidance and support.

Jakub was a hardworking, loving, respectful, and compassionate man. He was more than a soldier and a veteran. He was a friend, a hero, a father, a mentor, and someone whose kindness left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He was the person people turned to when they needed help, encouragement, or guidance. He gave generously of his time and was always willing to lend a hand. To know Jakub was to love him. To those who knew and worked alongside him, he was simply “The Man.”

His life was a testament to perseverance, generosity, and the determination to make the world a better place, even in the face of adversity and hardship. Although he is no longer with us in person, his spirit, kindness, and legacy will continue to live on through the countless lives he touched.

He may be gone, but he will never be forgotten.

Honoring Jakub’s Greatest Legacy: His Sons

Above all else, Jakub was a devoted father to his two beloved sons, Kris Dziemaszkiewicz, age 9, and Tommy Dziemaszkiewicz, age 8. They were at the heart of his life, and his love for them will forever remain the most meaningful part of his legacy.

In honor of Jakub’s memory, we have dedicated this GoFundMe fundraiser to Kris and Tommy and to the bright futures that lie ahead of them.

Contributions to this fundraiser are entirely voluntary. Our hope is to establish a meaningful gift for Jakub’s sons that will help provide them with a strong foundation as they grow, pursue their dreams, and continue their education in the years to come.

Jakub dreamed of furthering his own education and one day earning a doctoral degree. Sadly, he will not have the opportunity to fulfill that dream himself. However, we hope that the love and support surrounding Kris and Tommy will help them pursue their own educational goals, discover their passions, and achieve great things throughout their lives.

By contributing to this fundraiser, you can help honor Jakub’s memory in one of the most meaningful ways possible: by investing in the future of the two people who meant more to him than anything else.

Every contribution, regardless of the amount, is deeply appreciated. If you are unable to contribute financially, sharing this fundraiser with others and keeping Kris and Tommy in your thoughts and prayers is equally meaningful. Every act of kindness and support will help remind these young boys that they are not alone and that they are surrounded by people who care about them and will continue to honor their father’s memory.

All proceeds will go directly to the designated beneficiary, Allison Dziemaszkiewicz, who is the primary caregiver and parent of Kris and Tommy.

Jakub dedicated a significant part of his life to serving his country and helping fellow veterans. Now, we have an opportunity to come together and support the family he loved so dearly.

His life made a difference. His service mattered. His legacy will endure, and his love will continue through his sons. May Kris and Tommy always know how deeply their father was loved, how many lives he touched, and how many people are standing beside them as they navigate life without him.

Rest in Eternal Peace, Jakub!

You served your country with honor, stood beside your fellow veterans, and left an unforgettable mark on the lives of those who knew you. You gave so much of yourself to others, and the impact of your kindness and generosity will continue to be felt for years to come.

Your legacy will live on through Kris and Tommy and through the many friends, colleagues, veterans, and loved ones who will forever carry your memory in their hearts.

You were a friend, a brother in arms, a mentor, and a father whose love will never fade.

You will be forever remembered, deeply loved, and dearly missed.

Rest easy, Jakub. Your watch may have ended, but your legacy lives on.
