In memory of Jackie Browne

Hi, our names are Sarah-Mai and Hannah the daughters of the late Jackie Browne. In February this year, our mum was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. She died 3 weeks later.

We are taking part in the Cork City Marathon on Sunday June 2nd to raise funds for Breakthrough Cancer Research.

We also wanted to spread the word of mums symptoms as they are so commonplace and can be seen as every day issues such as indigestion and stomach pain after eating.
Pancreatic Cancer is a silent killer and there is a serious need to bring in early testing to catch it before it spreads. Breakthrough Cancer Research on Western Road are striving for better cancer survival rates from new diagnostics and improved treatments. We would like to help them with this and donate all money raised to them in memory of our beautiful courageous mum.

Pancreatic cancer has one of the poorest prognoses of all solid tumours. In Ireland each year around 600 people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer with 495 dying from the disease. In Ireland it has a very poor five-year survival rate (8% approx.).

To put in perspective of how silent this cancer is, this was our mum two weeks before her diagnosis.
