My name is Allie and I was lucky enough to be Izzy’s Auntie. As a family we are devastated by the loss of our niece Izzy. Matt and I are hoping that this page can raise some money towards Izzy’s funeral, due to the amount of time Michelle and Dave have been out of work for and the financial implications of this and for the two hospitals that were closely involved with Izzy’s care. Their lives have been a constant trip to and from The Royal Marsden and St George’s PICU and this has meant Dave hasn’t been able to work as much as normal. Any money left over after the funeral costs will be split between The Royal Marsden and St George’s PICU for their dedication and commitment to looking after Izzy and the family.
For those of you that don’t already know Izzy was diagnosed with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in December 2018 and spent 3 weeks at St George’s PICU. She underwent gruelling treatment and was put forward for a stem cell transplant in August 2019. This transplant was successful and Izzy began to return to normal life including school, horse riding and enjoying days out. Lockdown 1 in March 2020 actually became an added bonus for Izzy and family due to the amount of time they were able to spend together in isolation. In December 2020 Izzy relapsed and the leukaemia returned. She had to endure harsher cycles of chemotherapy and was put forward for a second transplant in April 2021. Izzy again spent 7 months from relapse in hospital only being allowed home a handful of times. Izzy went on to have 2 more spells in PICU in February 2021 before returning again in June 2021. Izzy’s leukaemia went into remission and the transplant was again successful but due to underlying complications caused by the 2.5 years of intensive treatment it eventually took it’s toll on Izzy’s young body/organs and she sadly lost her battle on Saturday 3rd July 2021 with her family by her side
