In memory of Iza - protecting Poland's wetlands
Donation protected
On 25th April, our dearest friend, partner, sister and daughter Izabella Mier-Jȩdrzejowicz passed away in Warsaw.
Iza was a passionate environmentalist and cared deeply about protecting the natural world. In lieu of flowers at the funeral, Iza’s family suggested that friends who wished to commemorate Iza could donate to the Centrum Ochrony Mokradeł (the Polish Wetland Conservation Centre - https://bagna.pl/aktualnosci/680-pozegnanie-izy-mier-jedrzejowicz).
Protecting Poland’s wetlands was a cause close to Iza’s heart. She worked with the Centrum Ochrony Mokradeł as a volunteer on projects to conserve endangered peatlands and to educate the public on the importance of preserving wetlands.
The response to our suggestion has been extraordinary, and the Centre has received funds from across Europe. They intend to use the funds to help establish a nature reserve in the Rospuda valley, a unique peatland ecosystem in north-eastern Poland (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rospuda).
We are aware that some friends of Iza in the UK had difficulties donating through the website of the Centrum Ochrony Mokradeł. We have therefore created this fundraising page to give another opportunity for anyone who would like to donate to this cause.
All funds raised here will be collected in a UK bank account and transferred in a single transaction to the Polish Wetland Conservation Centre to support the creation of a reserve in Rospuda (please note that as the Centrum Ochrony Mokradeł is not a UK-registered charity, donations cannot be gift-aided).
