In Memory of Isabel Hernandez

Hi Family and friends,

I am Paloma Hernandez, granddaughter of Isabel Hernandez. It is with great sorrow that I inform you all that today heaven has gained their long awaited angel, “Welita”. Welita was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in 2013. The doctor claimed she only had 2 months to live but of course we refused to accept a Doctors opinion because from a very early age Welita instilled in her kids and grandkids the importance of Faith. She also made it clear that science can only go so far & that God has the last say so. After getting several other opinions, and always being told a timeframe she would last, Welita out-lived it all. Whoever knew Welita knew she fed, prayed for and served her community until the end. She was the strongest, most compassionate and patient person I’ve ever known. She fought her battle with cancer for over 9 years and never gave up, mainly for her family. Even in her weakest and most painful moments she kept a smile on her face and always remained positive. She was and will always be the root of our family. She’s had an extremely long journey and battle with cancer and towards her last year suffered a great amount. One bright side is that she is finally in peace and I know shes happy to finally be with Diosito lindo.

I’m proud to say her immediate family never left her side. Mom who is the rock of our family prioritized Welita and basically moved in with her for the last 2+ years. She made sure to enjoy her company and cater to her every need. Welita completed her wish of passing peacefully amongst her daughter and grandkids in the comfort of her own home and was with her daughter until her last breath. We ask that everyone keep Welita and our family in your prayers, because no matter what, No one is ever prepared to lose a loved one. Welita loved you all and would love to see you all at her services (details to follow) Let us celebrate Isabel and her legacy she leaves behind.
