In Memory of Ines Talamantez

This fundraiser is to support the memorial and burial costs of Professor Ines Talamantez. 

Early morning of September 27th at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, Professor Inés M. Talamantez passed away from the effects of rapid onset cancer. She was in the company of her family and closest friends. A celebration of her life and work will be held on November 1st. Details will follow. 

Ines changed the world. Simply put, she was a force like no other that paved the way for Native Peoples in academia and the world. For 40 years she taught at UC Santa Barbara within the Religious Studies Department, where she created the academic field of Native American Religious Traditions. 

As an Apache Elder, an educator, a mother, a grandmother, a wife, a mentor, a friend, a sister, and so much more, Ines accomplished what many seek to do, but few are able, leave the world so much better than when she arrived.
