Dear friends of Hugo
As many of you know by now, our dear friend Hugo suddenly lost his father Jackson (Jake Rempel) this past Friday.
We all felt we knew Hugo’s dad. Either through stories told or visits with Hugo, Jackson was an inspiration to many of us. He was the template to the Hugo we have known and loved over the years.
Hugo has brought us joy and touched our lives in many different ways. After speaking with him today it seems he really needs our help.
Hugo’s beloved Mom Lorraine has a tough path forward, now with only one seniors pension as her sole income and no assets..
Jake’s health had been declining in recent years, medications and medical equipment etc. have been very costly on his parents seniors pensions and minimal savings. Jake and Lorraine happily and simply lived their lives but were never able to put away anything for the future.
Now with the sudden loss of his dad‘s pension, not only has Hugo’s Mom lost her life partner, she is facing not being able to stay in her and Jackson’s home of the last 25+ years in Winnipeg.
I am starting this GoFundMe in the hopes of helping pay for the mountain of expenses, the cremation, medical costs, living expenses for the next few months and then getting Lorraine moved into a more affordable one bedroom in the summer time..
As well, it was Hugo’s dad’s wish to have his ashes scattered in Vancouver’s English Bay. Let’s help Hugo and his mom get to Vancouver to fulfill Jackson’s final wishes. And lastly, what if we could help Hugo build a bit of a nest egg to give his mom security going forward into the future alone.
Hugo has been there for all of us in some way over the years, Now is our chance to give back to our beloved Hugo when he needs us most.
