In Loving Memory of Hub Spooner — Honoring His Caregiver, Soneka Graham-Bowers

We are creating this GoFundMe in loving memory of Hub Spooner, a beloved father, friend, and member of our Silver Sitters Home Care family. Instead of sending flowers, Hub’s family has asked that donations be made to support the caregiver who was by his side for the last 14 months of his life — Soneka Graham-Bowers — as she pursues her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse.

Soneka’s care for Hub went far beyond her professional duties. She treated him with genuine love, respect, and compassion — bringing comfort and dignity to his final days. To his family, she wasn’t just a caregiver; she became part of their family.

About Soneka

Soneka’s story is one of perseverance, compassion, and purpose. Originally from a small town in Jamaica, she moved to Philadelphia in 2011, where she began working as a server in an Assisted Living Community. After the birth of her first son, she felt called to do something more meaningful — to care for others — and earned her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.

Coming from a family of healthcare professionals, Soneka was destined for this path. After moving to Florida, she joined the Silver Sitters Home Care team, where she has cared for countless clients with remarkable dedication and heart. Her ability to provide comfort during life’s most vulnerable moments is unmatched.

For over 20 years, Soneka has dedicated her life to caregiving and management in healthcare — and now, she’s taking the next courageous step toward becoming a Nurse. She balances full-time work, nursing school, and being a single mother to two teenage boys (ages 18 and 13), who are her greatest motivation. Her dream is not just to build a better life for them but to show them that with hard work, faith, and love, anything is possible.

Why We’re Raising Funds

Soneka has touched so many lives with her kindness and care. Now, we have the opportunity to give back to her — to help her cover the costs of nursing school and continue her journey toward a brighter future.

This campaign was started in honor of Hub Spooner, whose family wanted to express their deep gratitude for the care and compassion Soneka gave him. Supporting her education is a way to extend Hub’s legacy — one rooted in kindness, generosity, and love for others.
