Dr. Henry Lin made significant impacts on both hydropedology and Critical Zone science over the past more than two decades. He had been very creative in promoting a new way of thinking about soils through the lens of complexity science and systems theory. He challenged himself and the soil society in interdisciplinary and integrated approaches to understand the complex landscape-soil-water-ecosystem.
He published the 1st book on hydropedology in 2012, guest-edited 12 special issues of reputable journals, and authored/co-authored over 240 publications (including 165 refereed SCI journal articles) related to hydropedology and Critical Zone science. He was internationally recognized for his visionary leadership and involvement in establishing the global network of Critical Zone Observatories (CZOs), including in the U.S., Germany, UK, France, China, and Brazil.
