In Memory of Harriet Zalwango

Harriet Zalwango was a loving wife to her husband, Julius, and a doting mother to her two boys, Quinton (18) and Brandon (10), who were her pride and joy. She fought many battles for her boys in order to ensure the very best was provided for them-even in the midst of fighting cancer.
Harriet worked hard to find the perfect school for Quinton, who now attends a top prep school and achieves top grades. She was so proud of all his accomplishments. She also went to bat against school boards to get her autistic and non-verbal son, Brandon, into a school that, while out of district, would best suit his needs and provide the very best care and teaching for him. Currently, Brandon attends that out of district school and is thriving with personalized and exceptional care during the school days.
For the last 4 years, Harriet has battled cancer while simultaneously caring for everyone around her. She purposefully kept her pain to herself in order to keep a smile on the faces of those she loved the most. She continued to work through chemo treatments and blood transfusions while also being the primary caregiver for both her boys in the home. Brandon, because of his autism, requires extra care and attention that Harriet never failed to provide for him.
While money was never in abundance, Harriet was never one to turn away someone in need of some milk tea, a home-cooked meal, a warm bed to sleep in, or a listening ear and kind word. She was the life of the party, in her own quiet and cheerful way, and always the provider of all the delicious food to said party. She was generous and humble and kind.
As her family now looks ahead to a life without her, they are faced with the daunting task of planning and paying for a funeral, as well as finding care for Brandon in the home. As you can imagine, funding is needed to provide for both of these needs.
We are overwhelmed by the number of people reaching out who want to support Julius and the boys as they move forward. First, please keep them in your prayers. They have an immense amount of adjusting to do in order to find their new "normal". Second, please consider giving to help ease the financial stress they will be facing. Without Harriet's income and presence, Julius is faced with being the sole provider for the family and the sole caretaker for Brandon-who requires full-time supervision. Funeral costs are high, and care for Brandon will not come without a price as well.
We know that with every little bit, God can do big things.
Thank you so much for supporting this amazing family.
**Harriet's sister, Irene, who has been by her side through her sickness and treatments, will be in charge of care for all donations.
