In Memory of Harbhajan Singh Manak
Donation protected
Harbhajan Singh Manak 1930-2020.
As you may know, our Beloved grandfather passed away on the 8th of April 2020. Due to the current climate, only five people can attend his funeral. Sadly, we know there are so many people who would have wanted to pay their respects. Therefore, the grandchildren have come up with an idea so that anyone who would have wanted to attend his funeral can now pay respect to his legacy by making a donation.
Our Baba Ji was fortunate to travel to India and Pakistan to help, support and maintain the Gurdwaras.
He was part of an early Yatra to the many Dharmik Gurdwara in Pakistan where he was blessed to be able to assist, accommodate and accompany people from around the world to visit the Gurdwara.
In his life, he visited Panja Sahib many times, If anyone has had the blessing of visiting it in the last ten years, you will have been able to take note that the floor is beautifully marbled; this was previously only brick and difficult for sangat to walk on. The Gurdwara did not have the means to relay the floor and therefore baba ji through generous donations and Sangat support managed to instigate the floor to be replaced in marble. With the support of the Coventry Congregation, he also commenced the extended langar Hall at Dehra Sahib in Lahore.
In the time he was able to travel to India and Pakistan he would raise money in the UK and give to less fortunate people in India and Pakistan.
At Nankana Sahib he traveled into the surrounding jungle and organised donations from the UK Sangat to help support the project of incorporating more land into Nanakana Sahib. Our Baba Ji also spent many of his years at Kartarpur Sahib; he raised a vast amount of money for Katarpur Sahib and together with members of the Sikh congregation from Coventry, they acquired land which is now part of Kartarpur Sahib. His fundraising also assisted with the restorations of Gurdwara Sucha Sodha; Gurdwara Rohri Sahib and also the donations helped improve the lifestyle of the Gianis in Pakistan
Sadly, when our Baba lost his eyesight, his efforts were stalled. He together with prominent members of the Coventry Sikh Community created a Charity called Dharmik Gurdwara Pakistan for the restoration and welfare of all those working in the Dharmik Gurdwara.
It is, for this reason, we have set up a go fund me page. We know that after Baba Ji lost his eyesight and was diagnosed with Dementia he was not able to continue the Seva, and although what we raise will never make an impact the same way his charity did, we hope and wish we can continue his passion to some degree.
We will be sending any money raised to support the Gurdwara in Pakistan to be put towards Langar and helping families in need during this difficult time.
So we ask our friends and family that would have attended our Baba Ji’s Funeral to donate whatever you wish.
