In Memory of Hannah Ivy

It brings me great sadness to inform you of the sudden death of our dear friend Gagan’s beautiful daughter, Hannah Grace Ivy
Hannah was a bright, wickedly funny and fiercely intelligent Year 12 student who was passionately involved in her school (Normanhurst Boy’s HS) as well as the broader community. Having been chosen out of thousands of applicants, she had recently returned from a trip to the USA with United Nations Youth Australia and was looking forward to starting the next chapter of her life.
Hannah was passionate about social justice and planned on studying politics, philosophy and economics when she finished school. Her focus was to give a voice to and fight for people who are currently underserved and unrepresented in Australia. And she would have been brilliant at it
Gagan was incredibly proud of her courageous daughter. Australia experienced this firsthand when she spoke so eloquently and with great compassion to Jenny Brockie on SBS’s Insight last year about Hannah’s gender dysphoria and being the mother of a transitioning teen. Their story inspired an outpouring of thanks and support from across the country and both mother and daughter drew tremendous strength from this
As you can imagine, this is an unbelievably horrible time for Gagan, made even worse by the fact that her immediate family live overseas and aren’t able be with her or attend Hannah’s funeral due to COVID-19
This Go Fund Me has been set up to help with funeral expenses and to pay for Gagan’s return tickets to India once travel restrictions are lifted. Like many others, she is also presently unemployed.
Hannah was a much-loved daughter, granddaughter and niece as well as a fiercely loyal friend and inspiration to many. She was an old soul and an an incredible force, whose journey affected so many in her too short time with us.
Your support, no matter how small, is very much appreciated.
Thank you and stay safe
