Our Western Digital colleague and dear friend Henry Yang (杨树堂) passed away on Dec 12th, 2021, at a young age of 54. He is survived by loving wife Zhen Wei (Lisa) and daughters Lily and Iris.

Henry was the most humble, sincere and hard-working person we had worked with. He never hesitated to go out of his way to help anyone who is in need, whether at work or in everyday life. In Western Digital, where we worked together for 14 years, he was famous for literally not knowing how to say no to any colleague's request, and we could always count on him to deliver results in shortest time possible and with highest quality. Outside of work he was known in Warm Springs community as an active community service leader, an always-smiling neighbor, a warmhearted friend, and a loving husband and father. Anyone who knows Henry can tell you a story on what a wonderful person he was.

Life started to change in the summer of 2019 when Henry was paralyzed by a severe stroke. After a few months of hospitalization and hard work Henry won the battle and fully recovered, like we could always count on him to deliver. He then went right back to work to support his family, as he would always do. In November 9th, 2021 life struck again and he was in hospital again. This time our dear old friend Henry didn't come back to us like he used to. Henry had been working so hard for his whole life, this time he needed a long rest.

Henry had always put the needs of others before his own, now his own family is in need of help. Lisa is a full time mom, their lovely daughters, who can make any parent proud, are in college and middle school. As if being robbed of their dear husband and father was not devastating enough, they are suddenly facing medical bills, funeral and burial costs, mortgage, loss of health insurance, complete loss of income, and a world of uncertainties without Henry's protecting wing. The older daughter Lily, who is only 19 years old, is planning to graduate from college early and find a job. When other kids of her age are still enjoying their youth she is determined to carry the family on her young shoulders, like her hard-working father would do. But this might be a little too much for a 19-years-old girl, she needs help.

Colleagues in WD are asking Henry's colleagues, friends, and neighbors to lend a hand to the family of our friend who had selflessly helped so many of us. We hope to raise enough money to offset uncovered medical bills and funeral and burial related costs. Remaining of the fund, if any, will be used for many other short term needs of the family at this difficult time. Any form of help you can provide in any capacity will be greatly appreciated.

And we wish the strong and brave Lily the best of luck in everything she does, her dad will be so proud!
