Dear Friends and Family,
Our dear Ginger was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer in July of 2018. After enduring months of chemotherapy and radiation treatments she was anxious to return to her job only to have her health quickly decline and within a couple of months she found herself submitting to a CT scan. Fearing the results, she asker her Uncle Dee (Dennis) if he could arrange to have a Mass said for her. Dennis contacted his close friend, Father Mathias, and a Mass was set for the following morning! Wanting to be present, my husband Dan, Ginger and I drove up to San Francisco the morning of May 17, 2019 to the beautiful church where Fr. Mathias celebrated the special Mass. Afterwards, at breakfast, Ginger got the phone call with the heartbreaking news that the cancer had metastasized to five organs. We returned to the church where Fr. Mathias Anointed Ginger and prayed with us. Now, we refer to this special person as 'The First Responder'.
Father Mathias Wambua is serving here at Star of the Sea Catholic church in San Francisco while studying at USF for a Master's degree in Professional Communication. Driven by God's commandments, he is recognized as a pious, humble, and compassionate leader.
In September 2017, Fr. Mathias started a much-needed medical clinic in Kenya named Star of the Sea Medical Services Centre. Their commitment is to provide quality, timely and compassionate medical services to the poor. Star of the Sea Medical Centre currently operates from a temporary outbuilding type structure. Funds, through contributions, will make it possible to purchase land and construct a solid, permanent facility. His vision continues with the hope of enough goodwill donations over time to also build a training facility for nurses and assistants to physicians.
It would be our immense pleasure to contribute any donations raised on Ginger's behalf to support Fr. Mathias Wambua's project.
Thank you and God Bless you.
Sincerely,
Janet Blum, Ginger's mother
