In Loving Memory of Gil Gonzales

Hello everyone. My name is Dina Allegretti. I was blessed to know Gil while working under his command at the Intensive Care Unit at Methodist Dallas Medical Center. He became the Nurse Manager of the unit during the hike of the Covid-19 pandemic, taking on probably the biggest challenge of his life.

He was the leader we needed during one of the darkest periods of our lifetime and he filled our unit with joy and laughter when we most needed it.

As a former flight attendant for American Airlines, he often used his previous job experience to teach us how to be better team players and love each other more.

For reasons that we will never understand, on August 26, 2022 God called Gil to heaven and he is no longer with us.

Gil was the sole caregiver and provider of his loving mother, Velma. She suffers from Parkinson’s Disease as well as other serious health conditions.

Gil never met a stranger. He made everyone feel loved and important. Gil was kind, compassionate, empathetic, dedicated, driven, optimistic, lovable, respectful, thoughtful, sensitive, open minded, friendly, loyal, and generous to name just a few of the many beautiful qualities he had.

He also loved his mother Velma more than anyone else.

During these extremely difficult times, we would like to help raise funds for Gil’s funeral arrangements as well as providing care for his mother. She will need medical assistance and living arrangements that will be very costly.

Gil was a real life angel on earth and the least we can do to honor him is to give him a proper goodbye and make sure Velma is well taken care of. Her whole life revolved around Gil and she’s completely devastated after losing him so unexpectedly.

100% of the proceeds will go to Velma Gonzales to cover for funeral arrangements and to provide for her personal care and well-being.
