In Memory of Geoffrey "Buddha" Riggs

We experienced a deep loss Friday night, April 3, 2020.  Geoffrey "Buddha" Riggs, a good friend and co-worker, passed away at the young age of forty-nine.  He is survived by his wife Brenda, his daughter Danielle, and his son Geoffrey Jr.

Buddha has been a part of the PROEM family for nearly twenty-one years, and my good friend for twenty of those years.  He was friends with many members of the PROEM family and treated everyone with respect.

When I started with PROEM in April of 2000, I got assigned at Alice Cooperstown in downtown Phoenix.  I was thrown in a rotation of a well established brotherhood.  Buddha was part of that brotherhood and took me in as his Padawan.  I knew right away that we'd work well together, but it turned out to be more than that.  We became good friends and was a part of each others family.  We did work well together, maybe too well.  We were purposely paired up together by our supervisors at many events, and saw ourselves getting into many "fun" situations - which we blamed each other for.  Those "fun" situations happened so often that others followed us just to get in on the action!  We were around each other so much that others referred to me as little Buddha and even mistaken me as the one and only Buddha at times!  Buddha already had his first Phoenix Open when I started so I heard many stories, and by the time my first Phoenix Open came around, I thought I was ready.  That wasn't the case as Buddha ran me all over the golf course and I saw things that blew my mind!  To this day, it's still mind blowing.  There are many stories like this that I can share about my good friend and by others who have also had the pleasure of working with him.

Buddha was the big brother I never had, and he was there with big brother advise during some challenging times.  He was a friend to my family as I, and some of you, are to his.  Right now, his family needs our help.

As most of you are aware, Buddha was a tough and stubborn individual and he fought relentlessly to rid himself of cancer.  That fight weighed heavy on finances so, your donations will go directly to Buddha's family to help with those medical expenses.  We are looking to give your donations to Buddha's family by Tuesday, April 14.  So please donate what you can, if you can - anything will be much appreciated.

May you rest in peace our dear friend, your pain is gone.
