This is a fundraiser on behalf of the family. All funds collected will be given to her mother, Gloria.
Genesis Sunny Lugo,
There are no words that will ever amount to what a magnificent human being she was. Genesis walked into my life at my lowest point, at a moment when I was lost, confused, angry, tired, anxious; the list goes on. I felt I had a fresh start, a new beginning. She was everything I could've ever wanted and more. She was compassionate, loving, empathetic, goofy, funny, eccentric, sensitive, and selfless. A ray of sunlight in my darkest hours, there she was, with her rosy smile and her big brown eyes, healing me, when it was her that needed my help more than I did hers. She was suffering, yet she wanted to help everyone around her, because that's who she was, a selfless, loving, and compassionate human being. If she knew the pain her mother, stepdad, and I were in, she would undo this in a second. She loved me, I loved her, and in her last moments, I am grateful for the opportunity to have been able to tell her how much I love her. Tell the people in your life that you love them, because only when the loss is great, does one have the appreciation for what is truly lost. Cherish the things you love and hold them close; nothing truly matters other than those you hold close.
On July 2nd, Genesis committed suicide, and that ray of light went dark. Until I realized that it shined brighter than ever. She is in everything, she is everywhere. I see her in the little things, the monarch butterfly in particular. I feel her in the wind, in the foods we ate, the places we went, the things we did, the music we listened to; she surrounds me. Humans are selfish and want the physical presence of the ones they love, and there is nothing more I want to do other than pinch her little cheeks and tell her how beautiful she is. She was my angel, and how fortunate am I to have her with me for the rest of my life. Wherever I walk, whatever I endure, I know she'll be with me.
Pay attention to those around you, the ones that are quiet and tending to everyone else's needs. The ones that are a rock to those as everyone else falls apart. The ones that offer empathy and healing at no cost. Those are the ones that are in need of a shoulder the most. Genesis had it figured out: love unconditionally. She made sure no one felt the way she did. It is up to us to reciprocate and recognize those people and tell those people we love them, and that we are there for them, because we may never have that opportunity.
In loving memory of Genesis Sunny Lugo, my sweet, perfect angel. May you have found the peace you were in search of, and may you never leave my side. I will love you forever.
May you rest in eternal peace, my love.
