In Memory of Garrett and Rhonda

UPDATE:
We are updating this fundraiser after the death of Garrett's wife on March 9, 2021.  Rhonda was a loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, cousin,  friend and co-worker.  We are so grateful for all the love and care she showed our brother, nieces and nephews.  through her love and dedication to her family, commitment to her work and overall amazingness, Rhonda touched so many lives.  If there is a silver lining, it is that she was welcomed to heaven by the Lord with her Mama and Garrett right by His side.

Garrett and Rhonda shared five children, and four of them have now lost both of their parents in the space of three months.  Today we learned that Rhonda had enough life insurance to cover the immediate needs, but nothing for long term support of the family.  They all have a safe place to live while we navigate what's next, and we would like to increase our goal to help with ongoing support in the best possible way over the coming period of time.   We know Rhonda was very loved by so many, and many people will miss her terribly.  We hope this is a way people can honor her by donating to a fund to support the family.

All funds raised will go toward the support of the children.

Thank you and blessing to you all.

On 15 December 2020, the saddest of days occurred.  Garrett Cooper Blankenship left this earth too soon after a brief battle with liver disease.  We lost a son, cousin, uncle, husband, dad, friend and coach.  Garrett was also our baby brother.

Garrett leaves behind his wife, Rhonda, and their blended family of five children, Cassidy, Abigail, Lainey, Cooper and Elijah.    He loved all six of them with abandon and did his best to be a supportive husband and loving father.  He raised a family who learned how to love people of all kinds, especially those with special needs.  This was a live life lesson for all of them as Garrett’s second daughter has autism and has high support needs.

So, why do they need some extra help?  I recently learned Garrett had no life insurance or funeral cover.  This is an added burden to an already horrible situation for Rhonda who now has no paid leave left as she had to fight COVID last month and used all she had between being hospitalised, recovering from the virus and being by Garrett’s side when she could over the last two weeks.

We, as Garrett’s sisters, want to provide a platform for anyone who wishes to collectively express their love, respect and gratitude for Garrett.  So many of you have asked what you can do to help.  My thoughts are that helping with financial peace will be so much more needed than flowers or food at this time.

All funds raised will go to help with arrangements for the service, support for Rhonda and the children and other domestic support.
