In Memory of Frankie: A Heartfelt Farewell

Fransisco “Frankie” Gamez was unfortunately taken from us too soon. Our precious angel is no longer in pain, but will forever live in our hearts. Frankie unfortunately suffered from methylmalanic acedimia and hyperammonemia. We as his parents had to make the most difficult choice no parent should ever have to make. The doctors informed us that he had taken a turn for the worse. He was being kept alive by machines. We couldn’t watch him suffer any longer. With the help of the staff from C.S Mott Children’s Hospital, we made the single most difficult choice to take him off of dialysis. We were finally able to hold him for the final time. We were able to read him his first and last Christmas book before he passed. He passed away in our arms. A moment in our arms, forever in our hearts. Mom and dad love you.
