In Memory of Frank Costa: Supporting Patient Comfort

Hello, my name is Sharon McNamara, and I am raising funds in memory of my dad, Francis “Frank - Frankie" Costa.

My dad recently passed on December 10, 2025 after a difficult and courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia. During his final weeks, he was cared for at Beth Israel’s Senior Behavioral Health Center located in Plymouth, Massachusetts. While this was one of the most difficult chapters of my life, it was also a time when I witnessed true compassion in action.

The staff at this center did far more than provide medical care for my dad. They treated him with dignity, patience, kindness, and respect during the most vulnerable moments of his life. Just as importantly, they supported me with reassurance, understanding, and compassion when it was needed most. I truly consider them angels who helped hold me up during an incredibly difficult time.

Because the care my dad received meant so much to me, my sister and I wanted to find a meaningful way to honor both his memory and the extraordinary staff who cared for him. When I asked the department manager how I could give back, I learned that the center is in dire need of recliner-style wheelchairs for their patients, like the one my dad relied on during his final weeks. - See photo below

In lieu of flowers, this fundraiser was created to help provide these essential recliner-style wheelchairs. These chairs offer comfort, dignity, and safety for patients, while also easing the physically demanding task of transporting patients for the staff. It would mean the world to us to help provide this equipment so other patients can experience the same level of comfort and care that our dad did.

This fundraiser is our way of honoring my dad’s life and supporting the compassionate professionals who care for patients and families during some of life’s hardest moments.

If you are able to donate, please know that your contribution will go directly toward helping Beth Israel’s Senior Behavioral Health Center in Plymouth purchase recliner-style wheelchairs for their patients. If you are unable to donate, sharing this page is just as meaningful.

Thank you for helping turn gratitude into something lasting, and for honoring my dad's legacy through comfort, dignity, and compassion.

With Sincere Gratitude & Heartfelt Thanks,
Sharon McNamara
