Support for UnJin

Dear family and friends of Jee Hee (Frances) and UnJin Lee,

On April 17, 2020, we suddenly and unexpectedly lost an important friend, and member of our family, and community. Jee Hee (Frances) Lee fought her last battle with depression after years of struggle. She was a loving and devoted sister, daughter, wife, and friend in all of our lives. Frances was a role-model to so many of us. She dedicated her life to enriching other lives through her endless love as a friend and wife, caring for abused and abandoned animals, and selflessly sharing her talents as a ceramacist, crocheter, knitter, and artist to spread joy to everyone. In the last few days, the outpouring love for her husband and best friend UnJin has been overwhelming.

Anyone who knew Frances knew that UnJin, Lucky, and Moo-Moos (& Mr. Tuxedo) were her world. This family was a force of love in many of our lives, and despite her sudden passing, Frances's kind and caring presence can still be felt through UnJin who despite his sorrow, continues to worry how we are doing, to tell us he loves us, and to remind us to take care of ourselves.

In this time of uncertainty in the world, many of us have felt so helpless and alone. Despite having to change our lives suddenly to survive in a pandemic none of us were prepared for, many of you have been asking what you can do, and have stepped up to find ways to contribute your love, time, and talents. We are so touched by your kind-heartedness and are thankful for each of your contributions and support.

For those who are able to and would like to contribute financially at this time, we are setting up this GoFundMe account to accept donations to support UnJin. This account is started and managed by his sister Eun Mi (Amy) and UnJin's trusted friend Sanjaya, and will be overseen by his sister EunJoo. We will be handing 100% of these funds directly over to UnJin to be used to help defray costs for funerary and memorial expenses as well as travelling expenses to scatter Jee Hee's ashes in Hyde Park, California and Korea. Any remaining funds will be used to setup a memorial scholarship or be donated to a non-profit organization best in alignment with Jee Hee's values.
