In Memory of Esteban Marquez

On November 23, 2024 Esteban lost his battle with esophageal cancer. Esteban was a great son, brother, husband, father, friend, and hard worker. Born on January 2, 1980, in Juanacatlan, Mexico, to his parents Florentino and Maria Guadalupe, Esteban was one of six siblings. Esteban immigrated to the U.S. in 2001 to look for a better life. Esteban met the love of his life, Sandra, at a taco restaurant in 2003, and married her in October of 2004. Esteban and Sandra shared three children together – Issak, Esteban Jr. and Alexsandria. Esteban was a hard-worker who often worked 10 hour shifts 6 days a week at a fish market. Those who had the pleasure of knowing him were enamored with his selflessness, his cheerfulness, his compassion for others, his tenderness, his cooking, and most of all his overarching welcoming spirit. Esteban loved spending time with family and friends, working out, watching sports and movies, cooking/grilling, and dancing. Esteban was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in June 2024 and succumbed to the illness shortly after in November 2024. Esteban leaves behind his wife, his three children, his parents and siblings, his mother-in-law, his cousins, and a multitude of nephews, nieces, and godchildren. El 23 de noviembre de 2024 Esteban perdió su batalla contra el cáncer de esófago. Esteban fue un gran hijo, hermano, esposo, padre, amigo y gran trabajador. Nacido el 2 de enero de 1980 en Juanacatlán, México, de sus padres Florentino y María Guadalupe, Esteban era uno de seis hermanos. Esteban emigró a los Estados Unidos en 2001 en busca de una vida mejor. Esteban conoció al amor de su vida, Sandra, en un restaurante de tacos en 2003 y se casó con ella en octubre de 2004. Esteban y Sandra compartieron tres hijos: Issak, Esteban Jr. y Alexsandria. Esteban era un gran trabajador que a menudo trabajaba en turnos de 10 horas, 6 días a la semana en un mercado de pescado. Quienes tuvieron el placer de conocerlo quedaron enamorados de su abnegación, su alegría, su compasión por los demás, su ternura, su cocina y, sobre todo, su espíritu global de acogida. A Esteban le encantaba pasar tiempo con familiares y amigos, hacer ejercicio, ver deportes y películas, cocinar/asar a la parrilla y bailar. A Esteban le diagnosticaron cáncer de esófago en junio de 2024 y sucumbió a la enfermedad poco después, en noviembre de 2024. Esteban deja atrás a su esposa, sus tres hijos, sus padres y hermanos, su suegra, sus primos y multitud de sobrinos, sobrinas y ahijados.
