It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Erik Swanson peacefully in his sleep Tuesday morning. Erik’s spirit, talent, humility, and love for music made him a beloved icon of the Dallas music scene for decades. He was truly a wonderful friend who would do anything for anybody, and leaves some mighty large boots to fill.
Whether he was performing for a packed music festival or a local nursing home, Erik's passion and joy for the music always shone through. He had a particular fondness for western swing and Bob Wills, and had an enormous effect on keeping the genre alive in north Texas, including through his own superb songwriting. But more than the music, Erik was as kindhearted a man as they come, as his countless friends and fans can attest.
His bandmates from Shoot Low Sheriff have set up this fundraiser to help with funeral and other expenses during this difficult time. Please keep his family and wife Tami in your prayers, and thank you for your generosity.
