In Memory of Erawati: Help Her Family

On November 26, 2025, a tragic fire at Wang Fuk Court, Hong Kong, claimed the life of Erawati, a 37-year-old Indonesian migrant worker from Malang Regency, Indonesia. She worked as a live-in domestic helper, caring for a Hong Kong family with a young baby.

Erawati was the only daughter in her family. Her father is now 90 years old, and she was the sole breadwinner, carrying the full responsibility of supporting her elderly father and her 2.5-year-old son back in Indonesia.

She first went to Hong Kong in 2011, at only 23 years old, with one purpose — to change her family’s life. In 2018, she returned to Indonesia to get married. When her son was just 2.5 years old, she made the heartbreaking decision that so many mothers are forced to make: she left her child behind and returned to Hong Kong to work again, all for the hope of giving her son a better future.

She came back to Hong Kong as a live-in maid for another family with a baby.

But on the morning of November 26, 2025, fate was cruel.

At around 6:00 a.m. (Hong Kong time), thick smoke filled the apartment as flames rapidly spread. In those terrifying final moments, Erawati made a video call to her family in Indonesia. Through tears and fear, she apologized and expressed her deepest love and gratitude to every family member. All she wanted was to see her son and her family one last time.

Thirty minutes later, the call went silent.

Her family could only watch in helpless agony through the screen, praying for a miracle that never came.

Later, the most heartbreaking news arrived.

Erawati was found lifeless, still holding her employer’s baby in her arms — the baby she had promised to protect. The baby was rescued but remained in critical condition during the evacuation. Even in her final moments, she tried to save another life.

Today, Erawati has left behind:
• A 90-year-old father who depended on her completely
• A young son who will now grow up without his mother
• A family shattered by sudden loss and severe financial hardship

We are a Hong Kong-based company providing shipping services to Indonesia, and we send our deepest condolences to everyone affected by the recent fire in Tai Po. We are heartbroken to learn that our valued customer, Erawati, has lost her life in this incident, leaving behind her family and young son. Her courage and dedication to her loved ones have inspired us to start this fundraiser.

We are raising funds to help with:
• Funeral expenses
• Immediate living support for her son and family
• Education and future needs for her son

Erawati spent her entire life working to give her family a better future. Now, her family needs our help to survive this tragedy.

Every donation, no matter how small, is a message of love and hope to her son and her grieving father. If you are unable to donate, please share this story so her sacrifice will never be forgotten.
