Elizabeth Buena was loved by many and that love was reciprocated by her in so many ways whether if it was an invite into her home and feeding you or coming to pick produce from her garden for you to take home.
The Happen:
What should of been a routine triple bypass heart surgery things turned for the worst as she encountered a massive stroke in her brain while under anesthetics. Her medical team had to operate immediately with a procedure called Craniectomy - involves removing a portion of the skull in order to relieve pressure on the underlying part of the brain to remove dead nerves causing hemorrhaging/internal bleeding.
The cerebral stroke was so severe it paralyzed her whole left side of her body. Everything went downhill from there as she continously had setbacks after setbacks running into many more complications. For 2 months and a week in the ICU she had a total of 10 surgeries:
>Angiogram
>Triple Bypass Heart Surgery
>Craniectomy
>Abdominal Wall Hematoma
>Tracheostomy
>Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG)
>Debridement of Abdominal Wall Wound
>Wound VAC
>Lumbar Puncture of Spinal Tap
>Scalp Wound Debridement
In the END:
Elizabeth's medical team at Rush Hospital determined that her "Quality of Life" moving forward would never be the same & encouraged the family to "let her go naturally". Surgery after surgery while still holding onto some sort of hope that our prayers would be answered she never fully recovered. At this point she was pretty much at a vegetative state and that was when her husband Ceazar decided he no longer wanted anymore suffering & that it was time to let her go peacefully.
Elizabeth's life lives on:
Elizabeth's life will continue to be remembered and blessed by her 4 Grandkids Aleya, Alexandra, Nathan & Jayden; her 4 Son's Ryan, Ron, RJ, Rommel; and her beloved Husband Ceazar.
