Elaine and Pa Bowens Memorial
Donation protected
This July 300 people on Team Stritch will be taking on Tough Mudder a 10 mile mud run, in memory of my sister Elaine and her husband Pa.
(Elaine is pictured with me doing TM just last July, 9 months after her husband passed away and just 7 months before she lost her battle to Brain Cancer.)
Elaine was first diagnosed with an aggressive Brain Tumor in August 2014. She had emergency brain surgery in Beaumont hospital to remove the tumour. She then started her chemo on the day their youngest son Adam turned 1.
Never adopting a negative attiude she successfully got through her treatment and life was just getting back to normal for them when Pa (44) fell on the 19th of October 2015 whilst erecting a light for his mothers funeral as she had passed away the previous day. He lost his fight on the 21st of October after donating his organs to help save the life of two complete strangers.
Leaving behind his heartbroken wife Elaine with their two small children Jason and Adam.
But Elaine didnt do what many would have expected her to do. She got up and chased life and put on a brave face and did Tough Mudder just 9 months after Pa passed away. She trained hard, was full of light love and energy.
But sadly just another 7 months after that, the cancer returned and she lost her battle to Cancer in February of this year aged just 35.
Myself and Elaine were on a committee in 2015 trying to get a playground for the community built but it kept running into roadblocks, with no funds etc so it was left to one side at the time.
After much thought and many charities that we could choose I thought that this might be the perfect way to get this job done, to name it after Elaine and Pa as they were so community involved and it is so important to me to keep their memory alive, and also it is something to benefit their two little boys Jason (6) and Adam (3) and something that will help them feel close to their mum and dad forever. <3
But this will be no easy task. :O
We need to raise ALOT of money to do this, and we need a huge team doing Tough Mudder and we NEED your help!
If you can sponsor us on this page now we would REALLY appreciate it and will be forever grateful! <3
