In Memory of Edwind Sanchez: Family Support

It started with celebrating his 21st birthday, and the next day he was in the hospital. Around 2 pm on February 9th, 2025, the ambulance was called for Edwind Sanchez. He was intubated as soon as he got to the hospital (Hermann Memorial). He had low blood pressure, organ failure, and a high temperature. He was put in the ICU the next day. Everything was happening so fast we could not comprehend what was happening. He started to recover and worsen at the same time. At this point, he had been in the ICU for 17 days. Doctors were telling us, the family members, to be prepared for the worst. We were praying for a miracle. Then the doctors told us he started to internally bleed; his lungs were filled with fluid and blood. There was nothing the doctors could do. All we did was pray until his last moments. His oxygen levels were extremely low due to all the fluids and blood. By this point, he was pronounced brain dead. His heart stopped beating at 4:40 am on February 27, 2025. Edwind Sanchez was a hard worker, funny, charismatic, and charming. He never got in trouble; he lived his life to the fullest. He was the best brother and boyfriend someone could ask for. He will forever be 21, but he will continue to be loved by his family members and loved ones.
