In Memory of Edel: Helping Ciara Say Goodbye

Yesterday, our hearts were broken by the news that Edel, Ciara's sister, died tragically in Clonmel, Ireland. Edel was not just a sister to Ciara; she was her "person" - her confidante, her joy, and her support. This loss has left Ciara devastated, and I find myself at a loss for words as I watch her grieve.
For the past 2.5 years, our family, including our three children — Faith (7), Phoenix (5), and our youngest, Sebastian (6 months) — have been living in Ayampe, Ecuador. Ciara's need to be with her family in Ireland is overwhelming, but we face a significant obstacle. Only Faith and Phoenix have passports; Sebastian's passport is not yet processed, and we've just learned that Ireland does not issue emergency passports for minors, meaning Ciara must make this heart-wrenching journey alone.
Edel's life was intertwined with Ciara's in the most profound ways, from childhood adventures in Clonmel to the shared dreams of adulthood. Now, as Ciara grapples with this unimaginable loss, she feels a deep urge to be there for Edel's funeral, to mourn with her family, and to honor her sister’s life in the place where they grew up together.
The recent economic challenges here have made it difficult for us to save, and now, with this sudden tragedy, we find ourselves unable to afford the immediate travel to Ireland for Ciara to attend her sister’s funeral and say her goodbyes.
What We Need:
- Flights: The cost for a return ticket for Ciara from Ecuador to Ireland is approximately 2,000€.
- Accommodation: For 7 nights in Clonmel, we expect to spend between 200€ to 300€.
- Help in Ecuador for the time Ciara is gone 150€
- Miscellaneous Expenses: Including local transportation, food, and any unforeseen costs.
The Goal:
We are reaching out for your help to raise 3,000€ to ensure:
- Ciara can fly from Ecuador to Ireland to attend her sister's funeral.
- She has a place to stay in Clonmel during this difficult time.
- She can manage any additional expenses that might arise.
The Challenge:
The inability to obtain an emergency passport for Sebastian means Ciara must travel without the comfort of having her whole family with her. This adds another layer of pain to an already unbearable situation.
