In Memory of 'Dirty Dave' Harcus

...Hey everyone, & cheers for taking a look at this GoFundMe I've created to try & fund my uncle's funeral, burial & memorial service.

As some of you may know, my name is Monika, and I am Dave 'Dirty Dave' Harcus' niece.

My 10 year old little miss & I relocated to Coober Pedy not long after Uncle tragically passed away on 5th March, 2025, when I realized that laying him to rest & taking care of his affairs was simply untenable from where we lived in Brisbane.

My Uncle Dave, already poor of health & on NDIS, passed away after he was cowardly punched in the back of the head, fell forward & hit his head on the concrete, leading to bleeding from his ears, which resulted in a rapid decline of his health, and ultimately his devastating death at Coober Pedy Hospital on the morning of March 5th.

He was sent home on THREE prior occasions from said hospital, without examination, appropriate scans or adequate treatment, just panadene forte.

There is currently full a coronial investigation underway; the preliminary cause of death, as found by post mortem, is "sepsis with subcutaneous abscess & pneumonia", however the Coroner found just cause for further examination of his brain for formal neuropathy & radiology, due to the circumstances leading up to him passing away.

Now...Uncle is back here in Coo'Pedy, waiting for us to lay him to rest...for which I've been given a tax invoice for the amount of $9,000.

At the risk of sounding completely tripe, I utterly adored my uncle, more than I can possibly put into words, & I legitimately have zero way to pay for this, & it utterly breaks my F*****G heart...

Meanwhile, Uncle lays there, waiting for me to do something...and all I can do is cry, because

I JUST. CAN'T. AFFORD. IT...
