In Memory of Diane Smith

I'm Diane's only son and caretaker for the last twelve years. My mom is one of the sweetest, kindest people I have ever known. She has had a hard life full of loss, and gave selflessly to take care of my father when he was sick with cancer, followed by seeing my grandparents through their final years all while doing her best to raise me. She has been "Mom" to more than a couple of people, including some of my close friends and the children she babysat before I came along. She has really struggled with her health the last couple of years, and unfortunately the worst has happened.

She was afflicted by a stroke last month, and while we were initially optimistic, things quickly took a turn for the worst. She is currently in hospice and being the only son, I need to go ahead and prepare for what's to come.

I never thought I would start a GoFundMe, but I also didn't things would end up this way so quickly. I thought I had more time to prepare arrangements. My mom had a couple of things taken care of, but the services and burial themselves have not been accounted for.

Hindsight is 20/20 of course, and I have the means to just barely handle it, but I'm terrified of being financially crippled by this. I have a lot of very intimidating decisions to make regarding my future, all at once.

I'm humbly asking for anything anyone can spare. It will be forever appreciated.
