In Memory of Detective Steven Fernandez

It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of our dear friend, Detective Steven Fernandez of the Ridgefield Park Police Department. Steven was a true professional, an inspiration to all who knew him, and a beloved colleague to many here at the Garfield Police Department.

From his early days as an EMT and Registered Nurse, to his exceptional career as a Police Officer and Ridgefield Park PBA President, Steven was a trailblazer who broke barriers and earned the respect of the entire law enforcement community. But beyond his professional achievements, Steven’s warmth, kindness, and infectious attitude made him a friend to all.

He will forever be remembered for his dedication, his big heart, and the positive impact he had on everyone around him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and our colleagues at the Ridgefield Park Police Department during this incredibly difficult time. The members of the Ridgefield Park Police Department and the Garfield Police Department share a deep and special bond, one that has been strengthened by Steven’s dedication and spirit.
