Words cannot express the loss we are experiencing at this time. Dena Celeste Blackwood was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. An angel grew her wings on Tuesday, April 29. Dena grew up with 6 siblings. Through life, she had a lot of struggles both through childhood and her adult years. Dena turned her struggles into strength and became a drug and alcohol counselor. She helped others learn that there is light even after darkness. She loved her family and loved helping others. Sadly, she was diagnosed in mid-February with possible lung cancer. On April 9th, she had a biopsy done and ended up in the hospital on April 18th. Unfortunately, cancer spread throughout her body. She lost her battle before she could fight. She will be greatly missed by the family left behind, but her love will live on. We want to share her life and memories as best as we can with her friends and loved ones to celebrate what she has given to all of us. She is survived by her 4 children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister, brother, nieces, and nephews. Cancer may have won, but she will forever live in our hearts and memories. Any support is appreciated. (Services and information soon to follow)
