In Loving Memory of David Winfrey
My name is Samuel Winfrey, and I'm the older brother of David Winfrey, who tragically passed away in a car accident on Monday, October 20,2025. David had been preparing to move to Kissimmee, Florida, to be closer to our father, Jimmy Winfrey, just 10 days away. Late that evening, around 10:40pm , while driving home along Highway 41, David lost control of his vehicle. His car left the roadway and descended approximately 350 feet down an embankment. He was just 47 years old and a month away from celebrating his 48th birthday on November 20th.
David leaves behind his wife Erin and 11 year old daughter, Lynnea, 19 year old daughter Riana. His loss has left an unimaginable hole in our hearts, but his love, laughter, and light will continue to shine through everyone who knew him.
Remembering David
David was truly one of a kind- full of life, passion, and energy that could light up any room. For the past five years, he called Morro Bay home, living in a small studio just steps from the local farmer's market where he enjoyed shopping to support all the local vendors. Every vendor knew him. He had a rare gift for connecting with people from all walks of life.
He was outspoken, big-hearted , and unforgettable-with a booming laugh and a tall frame crowned by his signature long curly hair. David was minimalist and loved the simple joys of life, whether it was a conversation with a stranger or petting dogs that came across his path. His love for animals was incredible and another way for him to spread more of his love on this earth.
Honoring His Spirt
Our family wants to honor David's life in a way that reflects his love for nature and his spirit. We plan to have him cremated organically through an earth soil transformation process-an environmentally friendly method that allows his remains to nourish new growth and become part of the earth's natural cycle he cherished so much.
How You Can Help
Funds raised will go directly towards covering the the costs of David's cremation. Any remaining donations will be placed in a savings account for David's family.
Your generosity, kindness, and love mean more to our family than words can express. Thank you helping us honor David's memory and support his family during this heartbreaking time
