In Loving Memory of Daisy Kwong

Donation protected

On Sunday, October 11, 2020, our dad returned home to find our mom, Daisy Kwong, lying in the bed not moving. The EMT was rushed to save her but it was too late; she had already passed.

Initially the EMT left us with no answers except that her death was due to natural causes. We later found out many days later that our mom had passed because of a cardiac pulmonary arrest.

Our mom did not die of Covid, but because of her inactiveness over the past 7 months of quarantining, her heart suddenly failed. The shock, the pain, and the horror does not even begin to describe it.

Our family is so heartbroken and devastated. The pain of our loss is unbearable.

Our mom’s funeral is on Friday, October 16, 2020. Due to Covid, we respect those who have requested for an alternative way to donate or give condolences to our family.  Please feel free to use this hub as a way to do so.

I don’t want to end this message with all sadness.  Our mom was a wonderful woman so I will spend this time in memory of her, instead.

Daisy Kwong was socially active, she was energetic, and man, did she love life. She was a big kid at heart, always willing to try fun new things.  I remember the time she went midnight fishing with Q and Nunzio and came home laughing with minnows in her hands. I remember how every time she tried to communicate in English to my kids, she could never finish the sentence because she couldn’t stop laughing at herself.  Needless to say, her laughter was infectious and we will never forget how boisterous and giddy it sounded.

Our mom loved playing mah jong and was darn competitive at it. She loved to cook, with her famous herbal soups sipped to the very last drop by us. Her joy for completing jigsaw puzzles sometimes had her working on them to the middle of the night so she could show them off for us to admire for days. Her biggest pride was finally being able to sing in Chinese operas (pictured above), and her lovely voice will forever resonate in our heads and our hearts.

We are trying to heal together as what’s left over of our family. We appreciate all those who have reached out to check on our dad and we thank you all for keeping us in your hearts during this time.

Stay safe everyone, and hug and cherish those closest and dearest to you.
