In Memory of Clarabelle: Support for medical costs.

On 10/20/24 we tragically lost our beloved Clarabelle during complications for a very risky surgery. Due to my unemployment I am starting this fundraiser in hopes to help the financial burdens my wife, Carrie, is picking up. Anything helps, only if you can ❤️

Backstory:
Clarabelle was found by our good friend Yazmin on the beaches of tijuana back in 2022.

She was bone thin, her teeth were broken, you could tell she had puppies recently because of her utters.. When Yazmin asked if we were interested in adopting Clarabelle we of course obliged.

At first Clarabelle didn't trust others, not in a violent way but instead a scared, wanting to hide, way. Through gentle encouragement we gained her trust and soon after we taught her how to walk up stairs, enter bedrooms, sleep on the couch and bed, and play with toys. She absolutely LOVED chewing on her toys and holding them in her paws. She was absolutely a GENTLE soul and from the very first day she slept in the house she showed her gratitude. Often she would bury her head in our laps and show us the sweetest affection. Watching her go from a scared thin dog to a confident lovable dog was a beautiful thing to watch.

But then last week around 10/15 I noticed her pee was dark red and her skin was becoming yellow.. so I took her in to the vet in tijuana at Vet Playas. There she tested positive for a tick disease which must have been dormant until recently. We were prescribed meds to help with that but then they performed an xray and ultra sound.. this is when to our horror we saw that her organs somehow were in her chest cavity absutructing her left lung and heart. And to make it worse her spleen was intertwined.

They recommended immediate surgery though they told us how risky it would be. I was hesitant because she had already been living with this issue for many years but in the end we agreed to try and help our baby to better her quality of life.

After surgery she was eventually stabilized but around the 13th hour she stopped breathing and they called us in. We went there and watched them work on our baby. She coded but was brought back and then coded again. They couldn't get enough oxygen to her gentle brain. They sadly had to unplug her..

We now think that she might have gotten hit by a car or kicked by someone long ago before she met us to cause these injuries. Apart from the intestines being lodged into her chest cavity she also had a bad lazy eye which seemed consistent with a hit. Or, maybe when she was starving and bone thin it cause her organs to go into her chest cavity, acting like a corset.

Nevertheless, we lost our baby and now our other animals and us are trying to cope with this terrible loss.

We can't thank you all enough for the messages of support.

Please rescue animals and always check them for any tick/flea diseases and get an xray/ultrasound early incase they have internal damage that isn't obvious at first glance.

A big thank you to anyone that showed love to our Clarabelle during her short life. We love you all as does she.
