In Memory of Christine Ficke: Funeral Assistance
Donation protected
Dear Friends and Family of Christine Ficke,
This is Lillie (24) and Hailey (19), Christine’s two daughters. We greatly appreciate you taking a moment today to read our story.
On Friday, November 8th, Christine suffered from a severe brain hemorrhage that resulted in the loss of her brain functions. Our family stayed with her at the hospital in Edinburg, consulting with doctors and surgeons, trying to determine what to do. Unfortunately, it was too late to stop the brain swelling, and Christine was declared brain dead on Monday, November 11th.
On the second night in the hospital, we were informed our mom was a registered organ donor.
For the last week and a half, my family has been with her in Edinburg, awaiting the process of organ donation. We worked closely with the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance during this process and are so grateful for their dedication.
On the night of the 14th, she went into Organ Donation surgery. Christine gifted her kidneys, liver, pancreas, corneas, and heart tissue to those in need. Her official date of passing is Monday, November 11th. We will be holding a celebration of life on Friday, November 22nd, from 2-4 PM. Additionally, we are having a complete service for her in Illinois in late December.
Christine was the most full-of-life person that anyone had ever met. Her beautiful smile and big blue eyes lit up any room she entered. My sister and I are honored to be able to call her our mother, but we are at a complete loss of words for the unexpected death. At the age of 55, our mom left this world too soon and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Christine was the most welcoming, warm, and nonjudgmental woman you could meet. You could tell her anything, and she would never judge anyone. She was assertive and independent. She didn’t take no for an answer. If she wanted something, she got it. Christine was a woman of unyielding determination who left behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering clarity. Those are the things we will remember and miss most about her.
We are reaching out to our community for help with Christine's medical expenses and funeral costs.
Anything you are willing to donate will help immensely. Please share this message to spread the word.
Thank you to everyone who took a moment to read our story and remember our mother, Christine Ficke.
Kind regards,
Lillie and Hailey
