“It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.” - Mother Teresa
Christine departed our world on a rainy Friday night. Rain showers extended beyond her home of New York City, magically reaching Virginia Beach and even as far as Southern California, places where Christine has family, as if she made sure to provide all of us cleansing drops for new growth. That was her parting gift to the world. She left doing what she did best. Giving.
Christine was a selfless giver and cared tremendously for all those around her. As a mother, a daughter, a sister, a cousin, a friend and a nurse, she always sought to mend others and lift spirits with compassion, laughter and love.
Like her mother, who is a practicing physician, and her grandmother, who was a school teacher in Japanese occupied Korea, Christine was born with the need to help others. She spent her entire career as a front line hero, working primarily in the emergency room as a nurse, helping patients with some of the most traumatic and grave cases. She spent the last year helping build one of the nation’s first covid testing centers at NYU Langone. She was truly a selfless, giving spirit.
Everyone who has had the fortune of meeting Christine will know what we are talking about. She was always full of love and exuded endless warmth. She may have been small in stature, but her heart was larger than most!
Christine is survived by her amazing daughter Zoe, who celebrated her 11th birthday this past June. So much of Christine shines bright in her daughter, and it is without a doubt that Zoe will grow up to become someone incredible like her mother. The funds we raise will go towards creating a trust for Zoe, so that we can support Zoe in finding her own true calling in life, whatever that may be. This was her final wish.
Christine would not have wanted us to cry in sorrow, but rather to smile while reminiscing about the many joyful moments we shared with her. So before you go to bed tonight, please take a moment to reflect on your fondest memory of Christine and share a good laugh with her.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We love you, Christine.
