In Memory of Chanmony Khy

It is with the deepest sadness that we share that our father, Chanmony Khy, passed away from Liver Cancer on February 15, 2020 at 1:10 AM in our home. This discovery of his illness was only learned 2 days before his death and he was only able to be with us for 8 hours after returning from the hospital. Our family is extremely saddened and heartbroken from this news, but his final wish was to be home and be surrounded by his family. Our father has always been a fighter, hard-working, and kind to everyone in his community. His main hobbies were fishing, gardening, and caring for his pet cat, Momo.

The story of Chanmony Khy is very similar for many refugee immigrants that experienced the war in Southeast Asia from the 1970's-1980's. His family was able to escape the Khmer Rouge events in Cambodia and stayed in the Thailand Camps to be sponsored to the United States. He immigrated from Cambodia in the 1980’s with his family and moved to Salem, Oregon. Chanmony was a man of many skills such as working in the farming fields. After a couple of years there, they moved to Long Beach, California for better work opportunities and he worked as a Tailor. Overall, Chanmony deeply loved his family and community by supporting them in whatever they needed from him. His family legacy will still continue through his two daughters and two grandsons.

We created this page to give everyone who knew our father and would like to make a contactless contribution here. All donations, great or small, will be towards funeral expenses: the cremation process, the private memorial service, flowers, and the urn.

Our family wants to thank you all in advance for all your love and support during this tragic time, especially in the time of COVID-19. We will make updates here for funeral services details to be announced soon.

With love and sincerity,

The Khy Family
