Cass had discerning blue eyes that loved the world — the trees, the ducks and the sand, but most of all, people. He had a holding interlocking gaze that seemed beyond his years along with a smile that sparked delight and the purest of laughs that filled the room. From the very beginning, he had an extraordinary gift to feel comfortable and exude love towards others, giving and receiving it so effortlessly. It is in that same spirit of connection that we ask you to join us on our mission for better treatments and less suffering.

Cassidy passed away from CIC-DUX4 rearranged sarcoma — one of the rarest childhood cancers in the world, with only an estimated 100 known cases. Driven by a single abnormal gene fusion, it is theoretically one of the most precisely targetable cancers that exists. And yet, no targeted treatment exists and standard of care treatment is harsh and limitedly effective for most. We believe that disease rarity limits its funding and interest and if it were more prevalent it is possible that better treatment could be available. We feel a duty to change those odds in the favor of future patients because we would have given anything for that ourselves.

Join us in the effort to raise funds to support the development of the first targeted therapies for CIC-DUX4. We are starting with a promising preclinical program at the Children’s Cancer Therapy Development Institute in Oregon. Their research focuses on a bioPROTAC — a biological molecule designed to seek out and degrade the specific abnormal protein driving this cancer, targeting the disease at its root. We also intend to support other research showing real scientific promise as it emerges.
