In Memory of Cara Kowal: Aid for Her Family

My mother, Cara Lenore Kowal, age 50, of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday February 22, 2025 after a long battle with heart disease and diabetes. She is survived by her husband, Mark Kowal, daughters, Rosalynn and Dagny Kowal, son, Nigel Kowal, brother, Scott Hutchinson, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her two dogs, Ginger and Rosie, and her grandkitty, Trueno.

We moved to Indianapolis from Michigan in 2007 because my youngest sibling, Dagny, had congenital heart defects and chronic lung disease, among many other diagnoses and would not have survived without the care she received at Riley Children's Hospital. While Dagny received incredible care at Riley, it created a lot of financial stress for my family. My parents were able to tread water, paying medical bills over the years, but recent events with my mother's health have exacerbated the situation. With the loss of my mother's income, paying for additional medical bills and mortuary fees has made our financial situation more difficult. Any contribution you can make would be incredibly helpful to mitigate medical debt and funeral costs.
