We would like to thank everyone that’s reached out and sent us love and kind words, it has been really touching to see how much people cared for our dad and had incredible memories with him. The fact he lives on in so many peoples minds comforts us. He truly did live so many lives in his one, sadly it was cut way too short.
Our dad left us suddenly and we are still trying to come up for air. There is a lot around someone passing that my brother and I had and still have no idea of how to deal with. Our dad more than most, because of his very unconventional adventurous way of life, did not have a lot of stuff arranged or organized. My brother and I are doing our best and have many people helping us. And yet we have encountered block after block in trying to get answers and will need to invest finances to hopefully discover some answers to questions we’ve yet to sort out.
My brother and I have had to take time off from work and come up north, and will be taking more time off this month to try to deal with the never ending list. And we will have to take off again next month until we can handle all the missing pieces. Who knew death was so complicated and costs so much. We live in LA and coming up costs us a lot, and taking off from work to do it costs us as well. We are having to look into hiring a P.I, a tax accountant, a lawyer, getting things notarized, paying his bills to keep certain things active in case there is info that turns up, his boat slip fee, trying to get into his locked phone to access crucial info that can only be taken to a specialist to retrieve the data internally as his main phone is locked out, and many more small and big things that keep popping up that are weighing instead of a sigh of relief.
We know our dad had so many people that cared deeply for him all over the world, and sadly because we had to rush back to LA for work we couldn’t take our time in planning a service that many could attend to honor him and his life. We had a beautiful memorial on his friends boat and spread his ashes at sea, but we know so many people would have been there if there was more time to prepare. If you would like and are able to honor him with helping us, we would greatly appreciate it. We look forward to when all of the heavy unresolved tasks are over so we can grieve our dad and finally let out a big sigh. We miss our dad a lot and the holidays are going to be tough but we hope we can at least have the space soon to mourn him.
