Honor Captain Odell Smith – Help His Family Say Goodbye with Love
Goal: $6,000 USD
With Heavy Hearts
We are heartbroken to share the sudden and tragic passing of our beloved Captain Odell Wade Smith, affectionately known as “Grumpy,” at the age of 53. Odell was found unresponsive aboard a charter vessel in the British Virgin Islands.
As we grieve this devastating loss, we are reaching out to honor Odell’s memory and support his family in giving him the farewell he deserves.
Who Odell Was
Odell was a vibrant soul, a loyal friend, a loving brother and son, and a respected captain. Though private by nature, his warmth and humor left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
“Odell was my best friend for many years, and I’m lost for words. He will be missed by so many.” - Captain Darren
“Receiving a call about my only brother and relaying the news to our mother was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. No mother wants to hear about the passing of her son, but we were truly blessed to have him in our lives.” -Nicola, Odell’s sister
How You Can Help
We are seeking to raise $6,000 to help cover 4 people.
✈️ Travel and accommodation for Odell’s mother and sisters to visit the BVI from Guyana and Antigua, say their final goodbyes, and handle necessary arrangements.
Let’s Rally Together
Now, we have the chance to do something meaningful for Odell and for those he loved most.
Every donation, no matter the size, brings his family closer to peace and closure. If you’re unable to give, please consider sharing this campaign to help us reach others who may be able to support.
With Gratitude
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and for helping us keep Odell’s memory alive. He would be deeply touched to see his community come together in love and support.
Captain Darren, Odell’s Mother and Sister.
Odell’s mother and sister have appointed Jasmin D’Aguiar as next of kin to act on their behalf.
