In memory of Bonnie Marie Harwood

Bonnie was an Alton legend - known and thought of with love and affection by many, her mischievous sense of humour made people smile… her tendency to look out for those who needed it and pursue fairness was a steely backbone that meant she was rarely forgotten by people she met.
In the days since Bonnie’s tragic death Altonians have shared memories of her, and so many mention her kindness, her thoughtfulness and her friendship.
Frequently people have shared that Bonnie always took the time to ask how they were, to ask after family members in a caring and thoughtful way - this was so typical of her. I will always remember her for inspiring teenage me to be unapologetically myself in the way she was, and for being the friend I needed during difficult times… it would be lovely for others to share their stories and why they’ll remember her, too.
I know her family will get a great deal of comfort to know Bonnie was thought of with such fondness by the community around her.
This collection was originally
the idea of Natalie Murrell, an Alton resident, who realised people would perhaps like to contribute to helping Bonnie’s family help with the costs of a funeral & appropriate memorial if they so wish. The funds raised will be transferred to the Harwood family upon the completion of the collection.
